A mission in Stages

The Gaganyaan mission is planned to launch with a three-stage mission.

The first stage will start in July 2024, in which there will be the use of a powerful GSLV Mk-III launch vehicle that will propel the crew capsule in space.

The second and third stages will happen in December 2024 and Mid-2025 which will accelerate the capsule towards its designated orbit.

Four brave Indian Air Force test pilots have been selected for the mission:

Group Captain Prashanth Balakrishnan Nair

Group Captain Angad Pratap

Group Captain Ajit Krishnan

Wing Commander Shubhanshu Shukla

After a tough training only three astronauts will be selected for the final flight.

This objective includes successfully launching a crew capsule into orbit.

Supporting a crew of astronauts for a designated period in space.
