Heavy rainfalls have struck Gujarat since 25th August, which has led to intense floods in Narmada, Tapi and numerous other rivers. Vadodara, Saurashtra, Bharuch and Surat are the hardest hit areas. 28 have been reported dead as of now.

Evacuation Under Full Affect

Six contingents of the Army have been deployed to assist the 14 NDRF and 22 SDRF teams involved in the rescue work. As of now, around 17,800 people have been evacuated safely, many of whom have been rehabilitated

No Hope for At Least 3 More Days

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has not predicted a change in this current situation, at least not before 1st Sept, after which they project that the pressure-area could move towards Pakistan. Red and Yellow alerts have been issued for various areas.
